I write stories to help lift people up (by the end) and have shared some of them on this site.

My first novel, The Frequent Missteps of J.D. Buckles, was my attempt to write the funniest book possible—one that would make readers laugh on every single page. My second novel, Dancing in the Waves, takes a more meaningful approach, exploring a heartbroken man's search for joy, acceptance, and love (though humor is still sprinkled throughout).

When I'm not writing novels, I'm working on picture book manuscripts—some for kids, and some for adults. Many of my stories involve discarded, unwanted objects that long for someone to appreciate them, until they finally find an opportunity to be a hero.

I also write poems, usually humorous ones that explore the little moments in life.

I live in Chicago with my wife and our dog. When I'm not writing, I'm probably reading, hiking, or trying to convince myself that the next draft will be the final one.
